About this role

HR Advisor
Sheffield - Hybrid Working
12+ Month Fixed-Term Contract

£36,000 - £41,000 per annum

Looking for your next HR opportunity where you can make a real impact?

We're partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to join a collaborative People team on a long-term fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR generalist who enjoys partnering with managers, handling complex employee relations matters and supporting organisational change within a fast-paced environment.

Working on a hybrid basis, you'll spend around three days a week in the Sheffield office, with the flexibility to work from home for the remainder of the week.

The Opportunity

As a trusted HR partner, you'll provide practical, commercially focused advice across the full employee lifecycle. You'll work closely with managers to resolve a broad range of people issues, ensuring policies are applied consistently while supporting a positive employee experience.

Alongside day-to-day advisory work, you'll contribute to a variety of people projects and change initiatives, helping to drive continuous improvement across the HR function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers to provide expert HR advice across a wide range of employee matters.
  • Manage employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and wellbeing issues.
  • Support organisational change activity, including restructures, redeployment, consultations and TUPE where required.
  • Coach and develop managers to build confidence in people management and employment best practice.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure people processes are completed efficiently and compliantly.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience.

About You

We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships and delivering pragmatic HR solutions.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor role.
  • Strong, hands-on employee relations experience with confidence managing cases independently.
  • A solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting managers within a large, complex organisation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Experience using HR systems and a CIPD qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous.

What's on Offer

  • Salary of £36,000 - £41,000 plus excellent benefits
  • Hybrid working (approximately three days in the Sheffield office)
  • 12+ month fixed-term contract offering stability and variety
  • Supportive and collaborative HR team
  • Opportunity to broaden your experience across operational HR and organisational change

If you're an experienced HR Advisor available to start in the coming weeks, we'd love to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative HR team on a long-term fixed-term contract, supporting a broad range of operational HR activities with a strong focus on employee relations.

Macmillan Davies

Engage. Consult. Recruit.
For many HR professionals, we’ll need no introduction. We are one of the longest-established specialist HR recruitment consultancies in the UK, with expertise in every sector, including financial services, technology and communications, retail, and professional and business services. However, it’s our consultative way of working that really sets us apart. Engage Macmillan Davies and you’ll find the focus is firmly on you and your needs.

Professional. Proven. Personable.
Whether you’re an established HR Manager or just beginning your career as an HR Administrator, you’ll find our focus is on long-term candidate relationships, not short-term fixes. We’ll take as much time to understand your needs as we do client ones. Rather than simply pointing you towards a permanent or interim job in HR, we’ll ensure you make the right career move.

Our history
To say we’ve a wealth of experience in HR recruitment is an understatement. Macmillan Davies has been a dedicated HR recruitment consultancy since 1979. Since then, we have developed into the business we are today: a market-leading HR recruitment firm with offices in London and Manchester and part of a global network that spans Asia, Australia and Europe.

Our approach
Our approach has been developed over three decades at the forefront of HR recruitment consultancy. In that time, we’ve developed an excellent track record of adding value to leading clients in every major sector, a well-established global network and a collaborative working style.

Together, these qualities add up to a unique proposition in HR recruitment. Not only do we have the expertise to deliver what you need, but our consultative and professional approach also means that search will be a rewarding experience.

At Macmillan Davies we take our responsibilities seriously, as we’re guardians of both our clients’ brands and our candidates’ careers. But we also make sure this professionalism is balanced with a personal approach. How we deliver is just as important to us as what we provide – and the reason so many of our clients and candidates return for our advice again and again.

Supporting your HR career every step of the way
We’re a long-term career partner to many of our candidates, supporting them as they progress from HR Assistant jobs to HR Director levels. All of which is made possible by our specialist practices. If you’re looking for a senior HR role, our Executive Resourcing practice is a specialist in the field. Our Interim team will handle your day rate and fixed-term HR assignments, while our Futurexec team will provide the support and opportunities you need earlier in your human resources career.
